Learn all about life at Codat from Field Marketing Lead Kseniya.
Briefly describe your role and how it impacts Codat’s mission.
I run field marketing initiatives at Codat. It’s a broad role that supports demand gen & sales teams. At Codat, our mission is to make life easier for SMBs, so we have to get out there and build our brand face-to-face with clients, make sure our teams have a platform for networking, and create relationships – that’s where I come in!
What led you to pursue this career path, and what about Codat specifically intrigued you to join the team?
Event management was a no-brainer for me. I love hosting parties and providing great experiences for my close friends and family, and I also love working in tech. I’ve been living the start-up life for my entire career and wouldn’t have it any other way. Working at Codat means I get to spend time with friends in a fast-paced environment and support their goals. It’s a win-win for me.
Codat is in a niche space. What makes your role unique from similar positions at other organizations?
When I initially joined, we had just started to build our presence in the NA market. However, it quickly became a global role, and I was ready to dive right in. What’s unique about Codat is that we’re established in many ways and markets, but we continue to grow and expand our client base, which means there’s never a dull moment!
What’s unique about your day-to-day that may not be obvious to others?
I love running around town looking for new venues to host lunch & learns, networking events, and learning about new ways we can reach our audience. It helps me visualize the goal of any event, how it will be executed, etc. The best part of my job is to see something come to life and see people make new connections.
What has been the most exciting part of your job?
I would say ownership. We start any process by evaluating the team’s needs and aligning them to market, and then it’s go time. The best thing for me is to pitch something, have input from the team and leadership, and then go out there and deliver and have our teams excited when they see the result.
You helped Codat have an incredible impact at various fintech events last year. Walk us through the challenges you faced and how you were able to make the events such a success.
There are a lot of events in the Fintech industry, and it can be tough to sift through the noise and identify what’s impactful. One of the main challenges was navigating events during Covid. We went through a few spikes in cases and had to adjust our plans accordingly. Our clients’ and employees’ safety comes above everything else!
Someone in your role has to have their eye on the market. How do you stay on top of everything in the fintech world and decide what events we should participate in?
That’s a tough one! It’s hard to stay in the know about every event and webinar under the sun. So I keep close with various teams, including sales, marketing, and others. We maintain direct lines of communication and they share feedback and forward anything they see. It’s truly a team effort!
If someone is interested in working at Codat, what’s the best way to learn about what we do and understand the nuances of our product and the market we serve?
I would say ask for a demo! That’s the best way to learn about our offering. Our sales team crushes it and makes so easy and relatable.
If you could offer a piece of advice to graduates looking to follow in your footsteps, what would it be?
Hmm, that’s a good one. If I could give myself advice as a new graduate, it would be to think about the bigger picture. Don’t be afraid to just dive into something. No one has everything figured out, we all make mistakes, and mistakes are just an excellent opportunity to learn and do things differently next time.
What personal/professional goals do you have for 2022?
On a professional level, I’m excited to continue to build the team, expand into new territories, and support company KPIs. I also want to travel more and meet more of my colleagues from across the globe.
What podcast or book have you been hooked on lately?
Oof, I’ll be honest, podcasts are not my thing. But I loved reading The Mind-Gut Connection recently. Being from San Francisco, I’m always eager to learn how to lead a healthier, more connected, and content life.
