Codat adds PayPal to bring the next generation of financial services and software to another 28 million businesses

The release brings our total number of supported financial integrations to 30.

Codat’s integration with PayPal is our ninth connection to an eCommerce, payments, or POS system in under a year, and will increase our coverage in North America and Europe in particular. The integration brings the total number of SMBs supported by Codat’s commerce integrations to 39.5 million worldwide.

PayPal is a market-leading online payments system that serves consumers, businesses, enterprises, platforms, and marketplaces. Merchants use PayPal to pay, transfer money internationally, and accept online and offline payments without having to enter their financial details.

This integration enables you to access a separate source of immutable data on the ongoing operations of SMBs. For an up-to-date list of the software Codat supports, see our docs.

Who can benefit?

This latest integration can be used in isolation or alongside other accounting, banking, and commerce data sources for a wide variety of applications and use cases, including:

  • Revenue-based lending: Use PayPal data to gain a holistic view of a merchant’s financial performance and inform decisioning processes.
  • Accounts receivable automation: Build process automations such account reconciliation on top of payments data.
  • Business financial management apps: Utilise data from PayPal to build dashboards using granular payments information and provide SMBs with valuable insights into performance.

Coverage

PayPal has over 28 million business users. The US represents PayPal’s largest market, accounting for 22% of all online transactions in the country. PayPal’s other key markets include the UK, Germany, France, and Italy.

What data are we pulling?

Our integration maps the following data types from PayPal to Codat’s standardised commerce data model and makes it available via our simple, developer-friendly API or Portal:

  • Company info: details of a linked company, such as their address, phone number, and company registration.
  • Payments: amounts reserved against the customer’s funding source.
  • Transactions: details of all financial transactions recorded in the system.
  • Customers: details of customers who have placed orders with the company.
  • Disputes: details of all transactions that customers have challenged.

This enables you to easily calculate metrics such as:

  • Gross Sales Revenue
  • Monthly Recurring Revenue
  • Churn Rates

If you’re interested in using this integration, contact Solutions. To gain a full understanding of exactly which data sets are available, please visit our docs.

What’s next?

We have ambitious plans to continue to expand our commerce coverage – including Amazon Seller Central, eBay, and BigCommerce.
Visit our Product Roadmap for more information on our future plans or to request additional data types for existing integrations.
