Why did you get into a career in Solutions Engineering?

It may sound cliché, but I wanted to help solve real problems for customers and provide solutions to make their lives easier. I wanted a role where I could use a broad range of skills while supporting the Sales team on the closure of deals.

Why did you decide to join Codat?

I was looking to move to an exciting and fast-paced start-up that offered a product I really believed in; Codat fit that bill. I had a great experience from my very first interaction with the team, and everyone I spoke to throughout the hiring process made the decision to join Codat easy.

What have been the main challenges for you while at Codat?

Understanding the new industry and becoming an expert in a constantly evolving product. Deciding what to have for lunch from all the great options on Exmouth Market every day is definitely up there too.

What are the biggest challenges you think you will face in your role moving from London to NYC?

Luckily, I’ve already been able to meet and work closely with a lot of the team in New York, so day one in the office shouldn’t feel too different. I will have to get used to learning to read the date in a different format though.

What are you most proud of in your career so far?

Delivering a procurement solution to a large number of end-users during three months in Tokyo.

What advice would you give someone looking to start a career in Solutions Engineering?

Be curious and ask questions both internally and externally. Always try to find out as much information from, and for, the customer and their use case as you can, so you can provide the most value.

What do you love most about your job?

It’s interacting with various roles across the organization every day. This includes understanding exactly why an engineering decision has been made, when a new feature is being delivered, why the product looks the way it does, and being able to articulate this to the Sales team and our customers.

Working closely with the Product team means being able to influence the future of the product, but ultimately it’s being able to deliver value for the customer and seeing the usage of Codat increase.

Why do you think Codat is a great place to work?

Without a doubt, it’s the people. Working and collaborating with really smart people who are united in their goal and working in a really fun, inclusive culture. Hot desking means there is always someone friendly and interesting you can sit next to.

The opportunities to progress are endless. I’ve been given several exciting ones during my time at Codat, and being able to relocate to the New York office definitely tops it.

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

Things at Codat just seem to get more and more exciting, and I look forward to being a part of us doubling in size over the next year. I’m particularly excited to have an impact on expanding Codat’s reach in the US.

What’s the best book you’ve read over the past year?

American Dirt – I couldn’t put it down. It was very thought-provoking.
