We caught up with Antoine Azar, Director of Engineering at Brex, to discuss his experience on Codat’s Product Advisory Board and how Brex’s partnership with Codat is paving the way for deeper connections with customers.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and Brex?
Hello, my name is Antoine. I’m a Director of Engineering at Brex. Brex is an integrated financial platform for businesses that offers corporate cards, spend management, travel, and bill pay. Our mission is to serve companies ranging from venture-backed startups to innovative enterprise companies, providing them with smarter ways to track spending within their organizations.
What problems are you solving for your customers?
Our customers come to us looking for a more efficient way to manage their financial operations. At Brex, we handle the entire accounting flow from card swipe to journal entry. This comprehensive approach allows us to do some really innovative things. For example, our dedicated Accounting team has built an incredible platform that serves everyone from AP Clerks to Controllers and Chief Accounting Officers. By leveraging the latest advances in AI, we can understand, categorize, and flag spending, integrating deeply into our customers’ ERPs. This results in a seamless, zero-touch expense management process, leading to a much faster month-end close for our customers.
What interested you about joining Codat’s Product Advisory Board?
I’ve spent a significant part of my career building software to help businesses—both small and large—operate more efficiently. Joining Codat’s Product Advisory Board was a natural extension of this work.
What I love about Codat is that it’s building a platform that allows other businesses to create smarter tools that integrate deeply into ERPs, which remain the source of financial truth for any organization. This level of integration and efficiency is something I am passionate about, and I am excited to contribute to it.
Brex has been working closely with the Codat team since 2020. Can you share a little about our partnership?
Our partnership with Codat has been instrumental in allowing us to go to market with a broader set of ERP integrations quickly.
This collaboration has enabled us to move faster, offer better features for our customers, and support a wider range of use cases. By partnering with Codat, we’ve significantly reduced the effort and time required to bring new integrations to market, allowing us to focus on delivering value to our customers.
How do you see the B2B fintech ecosystem developing?
We’re still in the early days of B2B fintech, but several interesting technologies, including artificial intelligence, are starting to make a significant impact. I believe we’ll see smarter tools emerge that make better use of data, which is not being fully utilized today. This will be a game-changer for Accounting and Financial teams, allowing them to run their operations more efficiently, gain better insights into their businesses, and ultimately become more strategic in serving their organizations.

We’re committed to continuously innovating as we develop the world’s top integrated financial platform. We’re particularly focused on serving accounting teams better. Our goal is to further accelerate the month-end close process, enable more effective tracking and management of spending, and help businesses operate more strategically.
